Mates 4 Mates
17 April 2021
The organisers of the Brisbane Airshow are proud to announce the appointment of Mates4Mates as the Charity of Choice for the 2021 Brisbane Airshow.
The Brisbane Airshow is a unique and exhilarating airshow bringing people together from all walks of life – provoking amazement, passion, and curiosity. The 2021 Brisbane Airshow is expected to display a myriad of ‘state of the art’ and historic aircraft. Both military and civilian aircraft will display overhead as patrons enjoy an array of ground activities including; Static Aircraft and Aviation Expo displays, a Classic Car Event, the Somerset Business & Trade Expo, Kids Thunder Park, Live Music and much more.
The Brisbane Airshow Air-Boss Gill Vardi, a retired RAAF Hornet Pilot, said he was immensely proud to partner with Mates4Mates. “It’s great to see the incredibly positive effect Mates4Mates has on our service personnel. This type of support epitomises our great Aussie Spirit of Mateship”.
Mates4Mates is one of Australia’s leading charities actively changing the lives of current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members, and their families, impacted by service.
Mates4Mates National Service Delivery Manager, Mark Diplock said being involved as the charity partner at the 2021 Brisbane Airshow will help to continue to raise awareness and much needed funding to ensure we can continue to support those veterans and families impacted by service.
“Last year was a very difficult year and even more so for those veterans and families who experienced increased levels of isolation, but we were able to keep our virtual doors open to continue to deliver services during the lockdown. As we reopened, we welcomed more new faces to our Centres.
“As a result, we will continue to offer some services online to complement our face-to-face support options offered at each Family Recovery Centre in outreach areas.
“It’s great to see the event going ahead. Being appointed as the Charity of Choice for the Brisbane Airshow, enables us to engage with an audience that is supportive of the defence community and bring vital attention to the ever-increasing need for these services and the critical nature in which they are required,” he said.
“There’ll be plenty of eyes on the sky and support on the ground for the defence community.”
