Brisbane Airshow - General: Strategic Partnership with Somerset

Strategic Partnership with Somerset

21 February 2020

THE Somerset Regional Council brand will be seen across the state as part of an historic agreement with The Brisbane Airshow.

Council this month signed on as a strategic partner for the 4 and 5 July show at Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield in Cressbrook.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the event would be promoted as The Brisbane Airshow brought to you by Somerset Regional Council.

“This is a great opportunity for council and we are proud to play our part in bringing Queensland’s biggest airshow to Somerset,” Cr Lehmann said.

“The event is expected to attract 10,000 people a day to the airfield, bringing with it significant economic benefits for our region.

“As part of the agreement the council logo will appear on airshow billboards in the Brisbane CBD, Fortitude Valley, Toowoomba and Ipswich along with every airport in Queensland.

“The event itself will be themed around the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, featuring warbirds, modern military machines, aerobatics, helicopters, sport aircraft, skydivers and more to be announced.

“Activities on the ground will include an aviation expo, military re-enactments, live music, children’s rides, food stalls, hot rods, bar and on-site camping.

“The Somerset Expo will showcase our businesses, industries and products to thousands of people, and I strongly encourage locals to get involved and take advantage of this unique opportunity.”
